Molly Carr- Work in progress

Witchy shoot un-edited

I met up with my interviewee and experimented with different poses and angles to showcase her lifestyle. For these I have shot using ProShot on my iPad. I ensured to shoot in both raw and Jpeg and took loads of photos so I have plenty to work with.

Firstly, I planned the location in the forest and asked my source to bring along some of her Witch products. when in the forest I took some test shots to see how the lighting was working, I found the natural light was effective. Upon feedback, I focused on my subject holding something to suggest what she is.

I chose this particular forest as it is where my source goes to meditate, I asked to be taken to her spot. It had a wooden table and chairs set which I thought would work perfectly to showcase her casting spells. I wanted to get some natural movement shots which I feel work well.

I then asked her to put her feet up on the stool to show a sense of authority and empowerment which I felt complimented my concept.

I then noticed her lovely tattoos and asked her to cross her arms inspired by poses I had seen from Ruth.

I liked the simplicity of this image and thought it showed the modern aspect to witchcraft with her stylish dress, neckless and white nails.

Upon reflection, I feel this shoot was a success and I have some strong images for my final piece. I need to ensure my editing is suitable and lifts the images slightly. If I was to do this again I would get more images of the set up to go along with the witch images as I feel those did not work very well in comparison to these images.
