After being relegated last season and losing all of their ten league games, it could be forgiven if the Leeds Beckett Futsal team’s confidence remained low going into this season.
However, the team were able to put this disappointment behind them and bounce back in emphatic fashion. Beckett’s title race with Sheffield Hallam is set to head to the wire with two games remaining and the team are also have their sights set on success in the cup too where Beckett play Durham in the first round.

Their talisman? Carlos Nunes. He has scored 14 goals in nine league games and looks set to end his university futsal career on a high.
When asked about the teams improvement this season, Nunes said:
“I think it’s been a good season so far, especially from an individual point of view and the numbers clearly show that.
“I’ve felt very confident throughout the season and as a team, we’ve made ourselves proud in every game” he said.
Nunes also explained how the tough season last year provided the players with valuable experience moving forward.
“Compared to last season we’ve seen a massive improvement. It was the first full season playing futsal for many of the players last year and we struggled to get to grips with the tactical and positional information.
“This season we made sure to fix these issues and everyone’s understanding has improved and this has translated into our performances this season which is good.” Nunes said.
