Leeds is a city brimmed with entertainment, but what people may not know is that located on Woodhouse Lane is the most exciting Wetherspoons in the UK.
The Hedley Verity, known as ‘Disco Spoons’ to student across Leeds, is a staple Saturday night. Come 20:00 every Saturday, this run of the mill Wetherspoons becomes a dance floor with cheesy pop tunes and cheap drink deals throughout the night – a truly unmissable night for students.
But what does the Hedley Verity mean to those outside of student life?
Regulars at the Verity – Graham and Pam – said: “We’ve been coming here for ages, it’s the way we start our day. A full English, cup of tea and a chat – you can’t beat it.”
The friendly nature behind the catering make this Wetherspoons special. Forever polite and ready to serve, the people behind the bar and in the kitchen make the experience great for any customer.
“We love our job. Seeing our regulars is always nice as you build a rapport, but seeing new people is the best. Elders, students and everything in-between is what we like to see.”
But it’s not just the catering to keep customers here – as a row of fruit machines keep others occupied for their own enjoyment.
“It’s a fun time killer, a pint and a chat round the fruity, it brings me back to being young again.” says Adam Fell.
It’s clear to see that this Wetherspoons trumps all. Drinks, food, fruit machines and a night time boogie for all to enjoy.
